Leah Schumacher Assistant Coach - 8 & Unders
Joanna Johnson Assistant Coach - Senior Group

My Name is Joanna Nicole Johnson. I graduate from Shelby High School in 2011. I was a part of the girls swim team, softball, dance, choir, and band. During swim team my senior year I held the honor of being girls Captain. At that time I also starting my coaching career teaching what would be the level 1's for my YMCA. At a very early age I started teaching swim lessons and learned that I would be swimming for life. I chose BGSU for their teaching program. I got involved with the Falcon Marching Band playing the trombone and then proceeded to join the BGSU Swimming and Diving Club Team. After graduating from college, I started teaching at Fremont Ross High School and coaching with Sand Otter Swimming. In 2017, I started at Bowling Green High School teaching Algebra 1 and Geometry and most recently started with BGSC  helping with the senior group and as a volunteer coach for Bowling Green High School. I look forward to this new experience as a gator and a high school coach. I enjoy open water races, having done the 5K at Half Moon Lake. My average time is 1 hour and 21 mins. My hope is to do the 10k in the future!
